  • World Future Energy Summit begins in UAE.
    The four day World Future Energy Summit has begun in United Arab Emirates. The eight version is held in Abu Dhabi and is hosted by Masdar, Abu Dhabi's renewable energy company.
  • Mali declared Ebola free.
    United Nations and Malian government have declared the Mali free of Ebola. The declaration came after 42 days with no case of the disease being reported. The last case was reported on 6th Dec.
  • Government approves new radio channels.
    18 new radio channels in the north eastern states and 15 new radio channels in Jammu and Kashmir have been approved by the government.
  • The censor board gets  a new chairman.
    Film-maker Pahlaj Nilani becomes the new chairman of the censor board succeeding Leela Samson. Leela resigned citing reasons of government interference.
  • Indian-American Frank Islam wins the prestigious Martin Luther King Jr. Award.
    The award is an apostle of peace and is presented to the entrepreneur and philanthropist Frank Islam in recognition of his efforts in civil engagement and international service.
  • Rajni Kothari departed to the other world.
    Rajni Kothari, eminent theorist and political scientist, who was the founder of Center for the Studies of Developing Societies (CSDS) in 1963, a social sciences and humanities research institute, left us.
