  • The Dragon slows down.
    The Chinese growth rate drops to 7.4% in 2014. This is the slowest growth rate the world's second largest economy reported since 1990. It also missed its official growth rate target for the first time since then.
  • Do Indians lack talent competitiveness?
    INSEAD business school with Adecco and Human Capital Leadership Institute (HCLI) of Singapore presented a report -Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2014. According to the report India ranks 78th out of the selected 93 countries in terms of human talent competitiveness. Switzerland topped the list.
  • Northeast to be empowered.
    'Make in Northeast' initiative to be introduced by the central government. It seeks to promote tea processing, food processing, organic farming and tap the wind power. Besides, it also aims to promote tourism.
  • HRIDAY - An ambitious Rs 500 crore project, launched.
    Heritage Development and Augmentation Yojna which aims at rejuvenating and preserving our rich cultural heritage has been launched. Ajmer, Amravati, Amritsar, Badami, Dwaraka, Gaya, Kachipuram, Mathura, Puri, Varanasi, Vellankanni and Warangal are the twelve selected cities for the scheme.
  • Chandrapur (Maharashtra) becomes a 'dry district'.
    The district is the third one in the state to ban liquor. Wardha and Gadchiroli were earlier declared as 'dry districts' by the state government. Henceforth, all alcohol permits will be shifted to the other non-dry districts.
  • Twitter to acquire a Bangaluru based start-up.
    ZipDial Mobile Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a Bengaluru based mobile marketing and analytics company, is to be acquired by Twitter Inc.
