    Abdullah bin Abdulaziz breathed his last at 90. His half-brother Salman is now the new monarch. King Abdullah ruled the most-influential muslim nation since 1996.
  • Jhumpa Lahiri claimed DSC prize for The Lowland.
    Pulitzer prize winning writer Jhumpa Lahiri has won one of the South-Asia's most coveted literary awards, DSC prize, for her book, The Lowland. She received it from Vijay Shesadri who is himself a Pultizer prize winning poet.
  • Alibaba to be the platform for Indian SMEs.
    Conference of Indian Industry (CII) inks an agreement with Alibaba, China's e-commerce giant, to provide a global platform to Indian SMEs.
  • Facts of the death of Nobel Laureate Pablo Neruda to be re-investigated.
    An investigation will be reopened into the death of Pablo Neruda, after 40 years of his death, by the Chile government. This is to ascertain whether he was poisoned by a military dictatorship. The case was closed after his exhumed body was tested in 2013, and the results did not support the claims.
  • Kerala to get 'Chotta ATM' and 'International Institute of Music'.
    SBI partnered with Ezetap has launched Chota ATM, which will allow taxi drivers, kirana store owners, traders, small businessmen to turn their mobile devices into a cash withdrawal point and a credit/debit card payment terminal.
    Kerala is also to open an International Institute of Music. It will be build and trusted by Sarod Maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and his family.
